Host Questions
1. Is the Healing House training program a valid business expense?
Yes it is.
2. Where is the next intensive training session?
At the Carp Ridge EcoWellness Centre, 2386 Thomas Dolan Parkway, Carp, Ontario. Please go to the Training page for details.
3. Do I need a specific background in natural medicine to become a Healing House Host?
No, you don’t. Our application process will determine your eligibility.
4. What if I don’t own my own residence?
You can run a Healing House out of a rented space or go to peoples' homes.
6. How will I get guests?
Healing House Canada is developing an extensive referral network and educational / marketing campaign to inform Canadians of this option. Registered Healing Houses will be on our website for potential guests to access.
7. I do not have a business background ~
I would not even know how to set up a Healing House.
As part of the training, you will receive the information you need to start and operate your own Healing House.
8. I have pets at home -- will this be a problem?
This information would be noted under your particular Healing House on our website, so potential guests can be aware.
9. I have children living at home -- will this be a problem?
This information would be listed on the website and requires a common sense approach to balancing family and guests.
10. I have carpets -- will I need to replace them with hardwood or tiles, etc.?
Not necessarily. It’s up to you if you want to be able to accommodate people with environmental sensitivities.
11. I don’t know much about nutrition and cooking.
We will teach you all the basics you need to know and you will continue learning as you go.
12. I am not comfortable with having a guest who is: male, female, dying, etc.
Accept only the guests you feel comfortable hosting. Any restrictions you may have will be listed on the Healing House Canada website, and should be included in your marketing materials.
13. Is there follow-up training?
Yes, we are planning an annual seminar as well as ongoing updates for Hosts.
14. How do I become and remain a registered Host?
There is an annual fee of $600 after successfully completing the training program. As well, you need to be free of major complaints from your guests.
15. What is the benefit of being a registered Host with Healing House Canada?
Benefits include: excellent training, professional follow-up support, widespread exposure through our website, our national marketing program and referral network, and access to the annual update training sessions.
16. What if my guest has a medical emergency?
We will train you to deal with emergencies in conjunction with the medical system (such as ambulances, hospital notification, etc.). You will also be expected to obtain a certificate in First Aid and CPR.
17. I don’t have wheelchair access.
You can install one or operate without one. Many guests won’t require wheelchair access.
