The Healing House Approach The Healing House concept is a holistic approach to caring for the tired, sick or dying in a home-like environment. Guests are encouraged and supported in their own healing journey by a trained and certified Host. Healing House Hosts welcome guests who are seeking a place to relax, recover from stress or illness, resolve an emotional issue, convalesce or die peacefully. A Healing House can have a variety of specialities. Hosts may care for people who are ill or suffering from exhaustion. They might choose to care for people who are dying, or help women birth naturally. Regardless, Healing House Hosts are committed to providing a loving and non-judgemental place for healing to occur, free from outside distractions. Their guests enjoy nourishing meals, cooked using the finest available organic ingredients and crafted based on each individual’s constitutional type, a nurturing environment designed to promote healing, and access to a variety of supportive resources. Hosts are not medical professionals. Their role is not to provide nursing care or to administer therapies or medications. Hosts offer care and comfort. They give the much-needed attention that is often lacking in other more traditional and “institutional” settings.The Carp Ridge Healing House, located in rural west Ottawa adjacent the Carp Ridge Natural Health Clinic, is a model representing the potential of this exciting new venture. Healing House Canada will maintain a website with a wealth of information for Hosts, potential Hosts and guests, including the following: Healing House contact information, the level of care provided at each Healing House, a short biography of each Host, training and certification information, registration package templates, ongoing workshops, and a list of tested procedures.
